I have seen that newscast thing dad showed a few times. i think it is very funny and gives some good information.
when you wrote that kyle was engaged to be married I read it wrong and read it as Kylie. I was surprised at how quickly kylie and her new mission president's son were progressing. thats cool that brother miller is setting all that up for beebee and her band of YW also, now all you have to do is ask him to take you wakeboarding a few more times. very sad that the new YM have become so much more not sports oriented, very weird. sad for the turkey bowl.

also, i told you a while ago that my debit card was invalid way back in june. You probably dont remember but we were sent a card, probably for me, but it was weird cause it had your name on it, so we did nothing about it. sadly now i do not have a debit card so for different personal things i have to use a credit card. do you think you could figure out the whole weird debit card situation out and send it up to me? there are a lot of thing here that dont work for american cards and i cant withdraw cash from my credit card... oh also i have bought a few things with my credit card recently that needs to have money moved over to pay it. Thank you!!!

on to questions:

What is your new address??
so we havnt gotten our legit proof of address paper yet, so i don't have the zip code yet, but you can get that from the rest of the address, its:
176 Sydenham st. Cobourg, ON

Tell us about your new companion.
Elder DeWall. He has been out for about a year and a half, from Herriman, Utah. he started out in Spanish work, was out of it for a while, and will likely move back in to spanish work pretty soon. hes pretty awesome though, good guy.

Tell us about your new area?
Cobourg, its got about 18,500 people living here, a little fewer people than there were in Toronto. I really like it here though, i like the country type places a lot. The ward boundaries also include (so we go to those cities also) Port Hope, the Township of Hamilton, Roseneath, and coburn, and a whole ton of farmland in between.

Tell us about where you are living....apartment, house, etc.
we are living in the basement of a 3 story house thing, if you google map it, it is the brick building that looks like it's in the driveway of the house next to it.

How will you get around...bus, bike, walk?
Car, no bus system, too much ground to cover with walking, and we dont have bikes.

Did your last companion stay in that area?
yup Elder Burton is still there.

What will happen for you on Thurs, Thanksgiving? Will it be just a regular day there in Canada?
Just a regular day in Canada, I didnt even know it was thanksgiving this week until some member scheduled a dinner appointment on friday and said we would have a thanksgiving dinner just for us.

How has the weather been for you, freezing? How have you handled it?
pretty cold, not too bad, its been mostly low negatives in Celsius so in like the 20s Fahrenheit, not too bad. there was a ton of snow early in the week but it pretty much all melted again, so there is only a little left.

What are you doing for P-day today?
so here in Cobourg we are a little too far (about an hour and a half) from the main city with other missionaries (Oshawa) to go play sports with them, so we have to figure out other fun stuff to do up here. we found out this week there there is 1 guy in a family we are working with who has a bunch of wood working stuff. so he told us that today we could come by and he would teach us how to make some stuff with his lathe... spelling might be wrong, christopher can probably explain what it is better than i can. but it should be pretty cool.

how will you handle doing laundry now? do you have to go to a laundra-mat?
there are coin laundry machines right outside our room door, so we will do our laundry in those, i just have to get some coins.

This has been a pretty great week. Its kind of funny that I have only served in toronto and the east of that so far. I hope I can stay here or in other not-as-big-city places like this for a while, i kinda missed seeing trees in toronto. but this week in missionary work went really well. something that we are super going to focus on here is less actives and stuff though. apparently in this ward, a couple years ago there were about 150 people going to church consistently, now they are down to about 30. so we are really going to focus on getting to know the members and have them get their friends to start listening to the missionaries again and coming to church. The first day we got here (Tuesday) we came in to the ward building for a second just to check it out and apparently the relief society christmas party was going on, worked out really well. we got to meet a bunch of members and we got to eat a bunch of food.

funny story: so for this one ward member who does wood working, pretty much the way he gets wood is by looking on the streets and picking up random pieces of wood that is thick enough to use. so last night elder dewall and i were driving down the street and we saw this big ol coffee table/desk thing set on the side of the road to be taken for free, and it was entirely made out of wood! so in order to surprise this member and bring him tons of extra wood we took off the legs and things and put them in the car. then we went to put the main base in the car. it would not fit... we spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to get this dang desk in there, but it just wouldnt work. sadly we had to call up the family we were giving it to and just tell them we tried to give them some wood but it didnt fit in our car. they came by a little later to pick up the desk. so good deed done, just a bit of a failure putting it in our car.

alright thats it,
I love you!
Quinn
